Ghanasportspage.com can exclusively that the Confederation of African Football (CAF) has named the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi to host the CHAN play-off first leg between Ghana and Nigeria.
The upcoming encounter was initially scheduled to be played at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium but the report gathered claims the Kumasi Baba Yara Sports will once host the Ghana-Nigeria showpiece.
The Ghanaian football governing body (GFA) is yet to confirm the news, but Ghanasportspage.com can authoritatively disclose it.
This will be the second time Ghana will play Nigeria in a playoff game at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium this year after the Black Stars were held to a goalless draw with the Super Eagles in a World Cup play-off first leg.
Nigeria will aim to take revenge to brush off the Local Black Stars (Black Galaxies) to book tickets for next year’s CHAN Tournament in Algeria.
The Black Galaxies of Ghana will face Nigeria in the final round of 2023 CHAN qualifiers between August 26-28, 2022.
The first leg encounter will be staged in Ghana before the second leg comes off in Nigeria.
Ghana, the 2009 and 2014 finalists will have to emulate the energetic performance that helped them to beat the Junior Squirrels in the first round to secure qualification for the tourney after a long-term absence.
