Former Ghanaian international and Hearts of Oak defender, Daniel Coleman ( Kofi Gari) has urged the president of the Ghana Football Association and the leadership of the Black Stars to honor Samuel Inkoom with a call-up ahead of the World Cup.
According to the retired footballer, Inkoom has the capabilities and the techniques to get back into the national team following his surprising performance with Accra Hearts of Oak.
Speaking to Ghanasportspage.com, Coleman said the former U-20 World Cup winner is still playing and he can play for the CHAN team and the Black Stars.
“I met Samuel Inkoom in some academy when I was called into the Black Stars for camping in Winneba. He is respectful and humble. He was a hardworking guy.
“I’ve watched him several times and he needs to be called into the national team. For someone to move from a professional stage and come back to the local league and play it perfectly, then they have to call him because the World Cup is being played with experienced players. He is doing well so far. He played Kotoko and he did well,” he told Ghanasportpage.com.
“There shouldn’t be favoritism and partial selection. If he is doing well then he needs to be called.
“For example, when I was called into the national team for Congo, I was a local player but I played four and five with John Mensah. We played a goalless draw and I was carried on that day for a great job. It was because of hard work in the Ghanaian league. Everyone said I deserved it.
“If Kurt is listening to me then he should know that Inkoom is doing well. They should call him to help the team. That’s what I can say.
“Even in the CHAN team (the Black Galaxies), he needs to be called. No one is advertising for him. I like the truth. He needs to be called because he is doing the work,” Dan Coleman divulged.
Inkoom signed a one-year deal with Ghanaian Premier League the 2020/21 champions Accra Hearts of Oak after he was unable to reach a deal with the Porcupine Warriors, his former club.
He has not played for the national team in the past 7 years after the 2015 AFCON.
The former Basel right-back will compete in Africa with the Rainbows after agreeing to extend his stay.
