Four Ghanaian players Patrick Kpodo, Razak Abalora, Mudasiru Salifu and Edmund Addo will be playing in the upcoming season’s UEFA Europa after booking qualification with Moldovan top-flight side, Sherrif Tiraspol.
The Yellow and Blacks will face Manchester United, Real Sociedad, and Omonoia in group stage of the 2022-23 UEFA Europa League.
As per the draw ceremony held in Istanbul on Friday for the 14th edition of the tournament since being rebranded from UEFA Cup, the former Kotoko duo, Mudasiru Salifu and goalkeeper Razak Abalora alongside Edmund Addo and Patrick Kpodo will be featured against the English giants in Group E.
FC Sheriff Tiraspol defeated Armenian champions FC Pyunik 4-3 on penalties in their play-offs final game to cruise into the competition after failing to make a return into the UEFA Champions League.
The group stage begins on September 8 and ends on November 3. The knockout stage starts on February 16, 2023 with the final set to take place at the Puskas Arena in Budapest on May 31, 2023.
Mudasiru joined the Moldovan side after winning the Ghana Premier League title with Kumasi Asante Kotoko last season whiles Abalora left the club in the early days of the 2021/23 campaign.
