Accra Great Olympics are champions of the 2022 GHALCA G6 competition after beating Bechem United 2-0 in Accra.
The Accra giants begun the journey on a slow start but here they come as the champions.
Olympics and Bechem United met in the opener of the competition where the Hunters defeated the Dade Boys 5-4 on penalties after playing out a goalless draw.
The competition returned to the Ghanaian football calendar after a long absence, with six teams.
With Ghana Premier League champions, Asante Kotoko, opting not go feature in the tournament, Medeama SC, Bechem United, Karela United, Great Olympics, Accra Hearts of Oak and Berekum Chelsea all agreed to compete.
They were pitted into two groups as planned to help the clubs’ preparations ahead of the upcoming season.
Great Olympics lifted the trophy after scoring in both halves to claim a two-goal win over Kassim Mingle’s side.
Former Black Stars midfielder, Agyemang Badu’s performance in today’s game landed him his first trophy after joining the Accra giants on a year deal.
Badu has played for Asante Kotoko, Udinese, Bursaspor, Verona, Quindao etc.
Great Olympics will open the 2022/23 GPL season at home with Bibiani Gold Stars on September 9th.
