The newly-promoted side from Zone 3 of Division One League will make their GPL debut against Accra Lions today at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium.
The Akyem-based club have to use the Cape Coast stadium as their home ground after the Akyim-Oda Park was deemed unfit to host topflight games.
Kotoku Royals are aiming to maintain their status this season and have also improved their squad with the signings of ex-WAFA goalie Ferdinand Sebi, Mohammed Zakari and Godwin.
It will be a stern test to the lads but they are well prepared to make history for Eastern Region after securing a historic promotion last season into the top-flight league from Division One.
Accra Lions who finished on a high note in their maiden edition of the league will hope to have a good start.
They will go in with the likes of Black Galaxies player, Dominic Nsobila who returned after helping the local team to book qualification ticket to the CHAN tournament.
PLAYER TO WATCH – DZIKOE RICHARD (ODA VINICIUS) – ATTACKER
Goals weren’t an issue for the ex-United Academy forward in the Division One League over five seasons, scoring important goals to snatch vital wins in all competitions.
Richard Dzikoe have spent five years with the Royals and have netted almost 90 goals in all competitions for the Eastern Regional based club making him ‘All Time Top Scorer’ of the club.
He averaged more non-penalty goals per 90 than any other player in the newly-promoted side.
A heavy price tag hanging round his neck will be a concern in his debut Premier League season. He clearly has the attributes to blow opposition defences in their maiden season of the BetPawa Premier League.
