Bechem United head coach, Kassim Mingle is very optimistic of repeating the team’s last season’s performance in the new campaign despite defeat to Great Olympics in a season opener.
The Hunters suffered a goal defeat to the Wonder Club of Ghana football in the just started BetPawa Premier League Week 1 game at the Accra Sports Stadium.
Kassim Mingle and his boys dominated in terms of possession but squandered their chances to give away a late win to the host following an 81st minute strike from Samuel Ashie Quaye.
But the gaffer is very optimistic of repeating the team’s last season’s great performance.
Quized, ‘Are we going to see the same Bechem United we saw last season?, he answered; “Yes, you are going to see same Bechem United that played last season. You saw what happened. We were playing the game. In the first half we were dominating and in the second half how many chances did Olympics create. They did not create a single chance. Am I lying? We had our chances in the first half and some in the second half which we could have used to equalize to the goal but is unfortunate and that’s how football is,” Kassim Mingle told StarTimes.
Bechem United finished in third place last season with only Champions Asante Kotoko SC and Medeama SC accumulated more points than them.
The Hunters were one of the standout teams in the League with Augustine Okrah, Clinton Duodu, Kofi Agbesimeh, Samuel Osei Kuffuor, Emmanuel Avornyo and Abdullahi Idrissu. Goalkeeper Idrissu recorded 18 clean sheets last season and made it to the Black Galaxies team that beat Nigeria to qualify for the CHAN qualifiers.
