Former Kumasi Asante Kotoko captain, Amos Frimpong says he will not be surprised if Hearts of Oak’s Samuel Inkoom receives a call-up into the Black Galaxies ahead of the CHAN tournament.
Ghana is among the 18 clubs to compete for the ultimate after beating Nigeria to book a ticket for the upcoming edition in 2014. The next CHAN tournament will kick off on January 28, 2023, in Algeria.
Amos, one of Kotoko’s long-term servers who also helped the Local Black Stars to win the 2017 WAFU Zone B tournament is impressed with the performance of the former Basel defender after joining the GPL giants last season.
Inkoom became a key player for the Black Stars between 2008 and 2016. He was capped in numerous AFCON games and the FIFA World Cup as well.
Speaking in an interview with Ghanasportspage.com, Amos said; “I won’t be surprised if Samuel Inkoom receives Black Galaxies call-up.
“I monitored most of the Hearts of Oak’s games last season and I was at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium during their game against Bechem United.
“When you check the kind of game Inkoom is playing with Hearts of Oak, I won’t be surprised if he receives Black Galaxies call-up going into the CHAN tournament because of his blistering performance in the Ghana Premier League,” he told ghanasportspage.com.
Samuel Inkoom who was eyeing a return to his former club, Kumasi Asante Kotoko agreed to join the former GPL champions after parting ways with Georgian side Torpedo Kutaisi.
The 33-year-old left the local league in 2009 to FC Basel in Switzerland after helping the Black Satellites to win the World U-20 Championship in Egypt.
He spent almost eleven years of his football career abroad before signing a short-term deal with the Ghanaian top-flight side last season. He previously played in Switzerland, Portugal, Greece, Turkey, and USA.
