Glorious Accra Hearts of Oak are unhappy that their fixture against Great Olympics will still be played on Sunday, claiming it will clash with Kotoko’s CAF Champions League game against RC Kadiogo.
The Rainbows will play their city rivals at the Accra Sports Stadium in a week two fixture at exactly 3:00pm whlies Kotoko welcomes Burkinabé side Rail Club du Kadiogo at the same kick off time.
It is the first major derby of the season and Hearts of Oak are determined to avenge last season’s back-to-back defeats to their city rivals Great Olympics tomorrow.
Following the decision to maintain the kick off time of the said GPL fixture, the Rainbows Communications Director, Kwame Opare has expressed dissatisfaction urging the Ghana Football Association not to repeat such mistake again.
He also stated that it is unfair to promote football with such decision.
“Personally, I think that the kick off time for Hearts and Great Olympics is not right to develop football. It is not right. Hearts of Oak, Great Olympics… Big fixture on any day and any planet.
“For Kumasi Asante Kotoko, forget about the opponent. It is continental assignment. The same 3pm. Even the man sitting beside me can come to Accra Sports Stadium for Hearts game before moving to Kumasi for Kotoko game if the matches are being played on different days (Saturday and Sunday).
“If he pays even 1 cedi, he has not contributed to only Hearts of Oak. Hearts only will not benefit.
“You know that after Olympics we will be going to Kumasi for Kotoko game. Should we play our game before Kotoko, some of our technical team would’ve travelled to monitor their game because it is done everywhere. When you go you will definitely see something and when we play together it will go on well.
“But where is the attention because we are all playing at the same time.
“Next time they should look at it again,” he stated on Atinka Tv’s Kick Off Show.
Hearts of Oak will travel to play the Porcupines Warriors on matchday three of the Ghana Premier League at the Kumasi Baba Yara Sports Stadium.
The Phobians suffered defeat on the opening day at Aduana Stars and cannot afford to taste another defeat when they play their city rivals before the game against the reigning champions.
