Ga Mantse Derby: A spirited Hearts of Oak hosts Great Olympics; Match Review & Probable Line-up
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Hearts of Oak will host their city rivals, Great Olympics at the Accra Sports Stadium today in a week two fixture of the BetPawa Premier League.

The Rainbows and Great Olympics meet again 3 months after the Premier League match which Great Olympics won 3-0. Hearts of Oak are on a poor run of form as they’re approaching this clash after defeats from Aduana Stars, Real Tamale, Great Olympics, Eleven Wonders and King Faisal failing to register a single victory in their past 6 games. The coach and the players will probably put extra effort in the defense as they have been conceding goals for 6 consecutive matches now.

Great Olympics, on the other hand, are approaching the match in a good mood after claiming a 1-0 win in Premier League against Bechem United extending their unbeaten streak to 3 matches, however, Great Olympics have been performing poorly in defense lately as they have been conceding goals for 3 consecutive away matches now.

Hearts of Oak enters the game with a goal defeat in the season opener against Aduana Stars in Dormaa but they are in high spirit to get their first three points in the Ga Mantse Derby.

HEAD-TO-HEAD

Hearts of Oak and Great Olympics have met 6 times since March 2020. Hearts of Oak have won once, 2 matches ended in a draw while Great Olympics have won 3 times. The most recent match between them took place on June 12, 2022 at the Premier League of Ghana where Great Olympics won 3-0. Hearts of Oak have scored 5 goals in these 6 head-to-head matches in total while Great Olympics have scored 7. So, overall, Great Olympics have a better head-to-head record against Hearts of Oak in their recent history.

RECENT FORM

Hearts of Oak are on a losing streak – they have lost to Aduana Stars, Real Tamale, Great Olympics, Eleven Wonders and King Faisal in their previous 5 matches in the Ghana Premier League. Overall, Hearts of Oak have won 6 of their last 20 matches, losing 8 and drawing 6, while Great Olympics have won 7 of their last 20 matches, losing 8 and drawing 5.

Hearts of Oak have lost 5 times (1-0 against Aduana Stars on 11th of September, 1-4 against Real Tamale on 19th of June, 3-0 against Great Olympics on 12th of June, 2-1 against Eleven Wonders on 8th of June and 1-0 against King Faisal on 5th of June) and drew once (1-1 against Karela on 30th of May) in their most recent 6 matches.

Great Olympics have won twice (1-0 against Bechem United on 10th of September and 3-0 against Hearts of Oak on 12th of June), lost twice (0-1 against Asante Kotoko on 5th of June and 1-2 against Medeama SC on 21st of May) and drew twice (2-2 against Elmina Sharks on 19th of June and 1-1 against King Faisal on 29th of May) in their most recent 6 matches.
