Ghanaian giants, Accra Hearts of Oak will play Malian side, ASR Bamako in the second round of the CAF Confederations Cup prelims.
The club defeated AS Douanes from Burkina Faso 3-1 on penalties to advance into the next stage after a 0-0 aggregate scoreline in both legs.
The second round of the CAF confederation cup competition will be played between 7th-9th of October. The second leg will come off between 14th-16th October.
Hearts will travel to play the first leg in Mali. The winner of the tie will secure a spot in the group stages of the Confederation Cup.
The 2021/22 MTN FA Cup winners were drawn as stand-by in the first round for the winner between Burkina Faso’s As Douanes and Mali’s AS Real de Bamako.
Hearts of Oak last made an appearance in the 2021 edition but failed to get into the group stage following a defeat to Algerian side JS Saoura.
The Rainbows will now seek to redeem themselves after last season’s humiliation performance in both competitions (CAF Champions League and the Confederations Cup).
