Accra Hearts of Oak head coach, Samuel Boadu has reacted to his team’s 1-1 draw with Asante Kotoko in the first Super Clash of the Season.
The Accra giants paid a visit to the Baba Yara Stadium to play their noisy rivals in a week three fixture of the BetPawa Premier League but returned with one point.
A 57th minute goal from Kotoko’s Yussif Mubarik took the home side into the lead but Caleb Amankwa secured the equalizer for the Rainbows on the 88th minute to prevent the title holders from taking the three points.
The former Medeama SC coach, however, believes his team is still better than Kotoko despite Sunday’s disappointing draw.
As revealed after the game, the gaffer wanted to outplay the Porcupines but his plans were destroyed after Awako’s injury.
The midfielder sustained injury in the second half and was taken off for Benjamin York.
Samuel Boadu, speaking to StarTimes after the game said, “I wanted to outplay them because I know Hearts of Oak is better than Kotoko. It’s quite unfortunate, Awako picked a knock and that destroyed our plan, as for Kotoko I know their weakness so I told my boys to keep their composure because we will bounce back”
Hearts of Oak now sit at 13th position on the Premier League table with just two points.
Next up in the Premier League, the Rainbows will face Bibiani Gold Stars at the Accra Sports Stadium.
