Asante Kotoko managed a 2-1 win against newly-promoted side Nsaotremang in their outstanding fixture of the BetPawa Premier League at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.
The match was postponed to make way for their Champions League preliminary round 1st leg qualifier against Rail Club du Kadiogo in Benin. Asante Kotoko have yet to lose a Match Day One fixture having drawn with Techiman Eleven Wonders in the 2020/21 and also winning against Dreams FC in the 2021/22 Premier League.
Two goals from Stephen Amankona and Isaac Oppong inspired the Porcupine Warriors to claim a 2-1 win over the newbies.
Starting off on a high note after the 1-1 draw against Hearts of Oak, the Porcupine Warriors dominated play from the first half with a cool finish.
The former Chelsea player gave the title holders a lead on the 13th minute from the spot. Isaac Oppong also doubled the lead for the Warriors in the first two minutes of the second half.
The visitors however, made an incursions to score a consolation goal on the 51st minute courtesy of Philip Ofori.
Asante Kotoko currently rank 9th on the table with four points while the newbies also sit at the 10th position with same points.
Kotoko’s next stop in the Ghana Premier League will be against Kumasi King Faisal (an Ashanti derby) at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Sunday.
