Deputy Minister for Youth and Sports, Hon. Evans Opoku Bobie has advised Ghanaians to motivate the Black Stars ahead of the Qatar 2022 FIFA World.
The deputy minister is highly optimistic that the Black Stars can achieve the ultimate with motivations and prayers from Ghanaians despite being tagged as the lowest-ranked team ahead of tournament.
Ghana is paired in Group H with Portugal, Uruguay and South Korea.
The Black Stars, which has won the African championship four times, has a remote possibility of being the first country from the continent to win the FIFA World Cup in Qatar. The Black Stars have a less than one percent chance of winning the 2022 World Cup but the minister has called on the nation to throw their support to the senior national soccer team.
“Why will I say Ghana cannot win the trophy? Nothing is impossible to God.
“I will urge any other person who is in the sports industry that between today to Qatar proper and finishing the tournament everyone should motivate our boys. If you sit before the console and the camera to say Ghana cannot win the trophy, first of all you’ve dumped the spirit of the boys. Because they will put in mind that the nation is not having any trust in them. However, we have to encourage them. We admit that there are problems in the team. Every team that has qualified for the World Cup is having a problem so we have to encourage them.
“We identified the problems during our friendlies and they are working with the advice coming from afar. Your dreams can come true when you pray over it,” he stated on Atinka Tv’s Kick Off Sports Show.
