Premier League giants, Hearts of Oak claimed a goal victory over Mighty Jets at the Madina Astroturf on Tuesday.
Following the suspension of the Ghana Premier League due to a court injunction, the Phobians have been forced to play friendlies in order to prepare for next week’s match against AS Bamako.
However, in today’s game, the Rainbows started with goalkeeper Richard Attah alongside Denis Korsah, Konadu Yiadom, Robert Addo and Caleb Amankwah at the defense.
In the midfield, Daniel Kordie, Siedu Suraj and Fatawu Mohammed were handed a starting berth while Enoch Asubonteng, Afriyie Barnieh and Jnr Kaaba led the attack but entered the second half with different squad.
The Rainbows were looking to send out a strong message to their African opponents but they struggled before wrapping up with a goal win.
Daniel Afriyie Barnieh deservedly put the Phobians 1-0 up on the 19th minute as he smartly nodded home Enoch Asubonteng’s cross.
Both side created much to win the game in the second half, Hearts of Oak players eventually proved to be the difference but the lower side denied them the chance to extend the lead.
The win increases Hearts of Oak’s advantage and spirit ahead of their CAF Confederations Cup game against ASR Bamako on Saturday.
They are expected to leave the shores of Ghana on Thursday for the game.
