Former captain for Accra Hearts of Oak, Amankwa Mireku has reacted to rumors linking former Kotoko head coach, Prosper Narteh Ogum to Hearts of Oak as their new gaffer.
The former Porcupines head coach is a part of the rat race which includes the likes of Annor Walker and Dutch man Erik Van Der Meer as possible replacement for Samuel Boadu.
The 2020/22 Premier League winners want to conclude the race before their game against ASR Bamako as manager’s presence is necessary for squad building and planning for the GPL title race.
According to the former Rainbows captain, Prosper Ogum’s success at Kotoko does not mean he will succeed at Hearts of Oak due to the pressure.
The retired footballer believes the pressure at Hearts of Oak is higher than the one at Asante Kotoko Kotoko.
Reacting to the rumor he said, “The truth is I cannot say is a good decision when the job has not been done. There is a different luck at every place and where your spirit likes. Ogum going to Kotoko and making it does not mean he will succeed at Hearts of Oak.”
“We worked with the late Jones Attuquayefio, he won all the trophies for us but did you hear of him winning any trophy following his departure. There is a good and bad place for your destiny. Everyone saw the difference after leaving Hearts of Oak.”
“Kotoko and Hearts are not the same. The pressure at Hearts of Oak is different from the one at Kotoko. Am telling you. The pressure at Hearts is higher than the one at Kotoko when you come to the fans. Some of us have understood and understand Hearts supporters to the extent that they helped us to play football because they will not pamper you. Hearts of Oak supporters are not like that unlike Kotoko supporters who will pamper you and give you money. You won’t get it at Hearts of Oak. They will tell you to do it well because it your job. The pressure at Hearts is not the one at Kotoko. That’s the truth,” he told Ghanasportspage.com
