Head coach for ASR Bamako, Nouhoum Diane sounded extremely proud of his team’s efforts in last night’s display at the Stade De Bamako stadium by beating Ghana’s Hearts of Oak 3-0.
In an interview with Ghanasportspage.com Diane talked about Bamako’s approach in the return leg at the Accra Sports Stadium scheduled for next week.
“The return leg should be treated as a final that will be played in any venue CAF will confirm,” he told Ghanasportspage.com.
After Hearts of Oak crashed out of the competition last season in gutting fashion following winning their embarrassment to JS Saoura, one major talking point amongst fans and pundits emerged in the form of how the psychological impact of their performance could impact them in this season’s campaign, especially in the game against the Malian side but they failed to impress Ghanaian fans again as hosts put every such doubt to bed, by taking advantage of the game with a perfect win ahead of the return leg.
However, the head coach of the Scorpions has spoken about the strategy and their plans before the first leg which they won on Saturday at Stade du Bamako.
He further described Hearts of Oak as a good team with quality players and called on the Rainbow fraternity to fill the stadium for the return leg.
“The strategy you know the goal was to win in Bamako you had to be efficient in front of the goal
“We don’t know how things will go in Ghana but the objective is to qualify,” he told Ghanasportspage.com
“It’s a good team they have quality players. They played well but we won”, He added.
“I am convinced that the supporters will be there we need their support too”, he concluded.
The second leg encounter is scheduled for Sunday, October 16th, 2022 at the Accra Sports Stadium.
Bamako will hope to sweep the Phobians aside in Accra to make it into the final competition.
