Former Accra Hearts of Oak star, Bernard Don Bortey has said the Board Chairman of the Phobians, Togbe Afede should dissolve the club’s current squad if they are not able to lift the 2022/23 GPL title or reach the money zone of the ongoing Confederations Cup.
The former talisman sees the current squad with the qualities but lacks confidence on the pitch.
Hearts of Oak are on a quest to reach the money zone of the Confederations Cup for the first time after 16 years but they are struggling to make it despite the current squad.
They last entered into the group stages of CAF competition in 2006 where they played in the Champions League money zone.
The club is with two point after three matches in the just started Premier League. Their slow start led to the exit of Samuel Boadu as the head coach of the club.
However, Don Bortey, who is a legend of the club believes the club is failing and if the current players are not able win the league and reach the money zone of the Confederations Cup then the team should be dissolved.
“One player can make difference. That’s how Cristiano Rinaldo is. When you give him the chance he will surprise you. The same as Messi. They have individual qualities. They prove that qualities out when the game is tough. This is what the current Hearts of Oak players must do. One player should prove some qualities when the game becomes tough like how Don Bortey was doing, took Hearts to some level, helped them to win CAF Confederations Cup,”
“For now some of them is having the qualities but the confidence is not there. He might be afraid that they will complain about it if he does something and fail. We study and learn football. The more you grow, the more you learn. With the squad Hearts of Oak is having right now and if they are not able to win the league or reach the money zone of the Confederations Cup then Togbe should dissolve all the team.
“If they are not able to win the league or reach the money zone of the Confederations Cup then Togbe should dissolve all the team. The players that we bought in dollars from other countries what have they done right now so if they are not able to win the league and reach the money zone of the Confederations Cup then they should dissolve the team. We have dissolved it before and others also came,” Don Bortey explained.
“Togbe should dissolve the team if they are not able to do what that am talking about because what is the income from what that he is spending right.
“How can he get his money back if they are not able to reach the money zone? he quizzed.
