Accra Hearts of Oak board member, Hon. Vincent Odotei Sowah has finally revealed the secret behind the departure of the club’s ex-coach, Samuel Boadu.
The former Medeama SC gaffer was fired weeks ago following their 1-1 draw with Asante Kotoko after winning five trophies for the club in two seasons.
Coach Boadu’s sack was imminent especially at the later stages of the last season, but saved his job, after winning the FA Cup Competition, but it was obvious that, he would be given the sack before the close of the season following the poor start of the club in the league.
It is significant to note that, Coach Boadu was the one who masterminded the first league title by the club after almost 12 years of drought on the local season.
He took over the club in the middle of the 2020-2021 league season and made Hearts an all-conquering side, mesmerising opponents, and ensured that Hearts became league champions after years of drought.
Following the team’s poor start to the new season, the Board of Directors of Accra Hearts of Oak decided to part ways with the young man and his backroom staff.
However, it appeared that three board members of the club, Hon. Vincent Odotei, Dr. Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe and Alhaji Akambi were the pillars behind Samuel Boadu’s exit according to some fans of the club.
But in an interview with Joy News on Monday, the Phobian claimed the young gaffer was fired due to his performance and the results from their last 15 matches.
“I believe that the data and the league table doesn’t lie. Where you are on the league and the number of matches you’ve won shows how competitive you are”
“[At the moment] at least the latter part of last season and the beginning of this season, we have not being competitive. We have played 15 away matches, we lost 8, won 1 and drawn 5.
“Yesterday [Sunday] was the first time we won in the 10 games and that is why it calls for the change of the club’s technical leadership,” he added.
