Ghana’s U-23, the Black Meteors will open their U-23 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Mozambique on Sunday.
The team is expected to arrive in Maputo today after a brief transit in Johannesburg ahead of Sunday’s game.
The team left the shores of Ghana on Thursday, 20th October with twenty-two man squad alongside the technical staff and officials.
The game is scheduled for Sunday, October 23 at the Estadio Nacional do Zimpeto.
The squad which has the likes of Daniel Afriyie Barnieh, Ibrahim Danlad and Isaac Oppong has been boosted with the arrival of former U-20 AFCON winning defender, Philemon Baffour who currently plays for Rio Ave in the Portuguese league.
Ghana’s FA boss Kurt Okraku was at the airport to motivate the boys as they embark on a journey to ensure qualification to the next AFCON.
The overall winner will progress to play the winner of the tie between Algeria and DR Congo to fight for a place in the fourth edition of the U-23 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
