Ghana is set to take on Mozambique in the second round of qualification stage with the first leg scheduled for today at the Estádio do Zimpeto in Maputo.
The Black Meteors held a final training session on Saturday ahead of their TotalEnergies CAF U23 Championship qualifiers against Mozambique.
The team’s management committee are determined to secure a positive result in the first leg before hosting their opponents at the Baba Yara Stadum on Sunday, October 30, 2022.
Management Committee Chairman and GFA Executive Council Member Frederick Acheampong is confident that though Sunday’s game is the first competitive game for the Black Meteors since they commenced camping, they are physically and mentally ready for the challenge.
The team left Ghana with a delegation of twenty-two players, technical staff, and officials as they look primed to beat East African side.
Black Meteors Coach Ibrahim Tanko is okay with the preparations done by the team ahead of the first-leg encounter.
“We started six weeks ago and after three weeks we were able to have all the players on board and so far so good everything is fine,” coach Tanko told ghanafa.org.
The return leg will take place on Sunday, October 30, 2022, at the Baba Yara Sports stadium with the overall winner facing the winner of Algeria vs. DR Congo for a place at next year’s U-23 AFCON in Morocco.
