Former Asante Kotoko, Hearts of Oak and Ghana coach has revealed why he has decided to stop coaching at the age of 77.
Having managed top clubs in Ghana including Asante Kotoko, Hearts of Oak, Liberty Professionals, Aduana Stars among others announced, the tactician his retirement from coaching on Tuesday, October 25, 2022.
The Ghanaian tactician who recently resigned from his post as head coach for Akosombo Crystal Players revealed to Ghanasportspage.com why he decided to throw in the towel after 37 years.
“For where I have reached now I have to quit. I won’t coach till my death. There are up and coming coaches who can come into the frame. For being old you have to give the young ones the opportunity. If they need my advice I can do that but to be on the pitch to be talking I won’t do that again,” he told Ghanasportspage.com.
Coach Sarpon is mostly hailed for his contribution to the discovery of ex-Black Stars striker Asamoah Gyan and has worked at many clubs in the Ghana Premier League including Hearts of Oak, Great Olympics, Asante Kotoko, and Liberty Professionals.
He was once Ghana U23 assistant coach to ex-Hearts of Oak coach, the late Cecil Jones Attuquayefio.
