Veteran Ghanaian coach, J.E Sarpong has stated that he enjoyed coaching Great Olympics more than Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko.

The outspoken tactician who began his coaching career in 1984/85 season had the opportunity to manage many clubs in the Ghana Premier League including Hearts of Oak, Great Olympics, Asante Kotoko, Ebusua Dwarfs and Liberty Professionals.

His excellent work at Great Olympics earned him his first Coach of The Year award in his career.

Having confirmed his retirement from coaching on Tuesday, October 26th, 2022 to Ghanasportspage.com, the gaffer also disclosed why he enjoyed coaching Great Olympics.

Coach Sarpong however stated that he enjoyed coaching Asante Kotoko but he is very excited to have managed the ‘Dede Boys’ because of the love whether good or bad.

“There are challenges in coaching but it is part of the of the job. Am excited at coaching Great Olympics. I enjoyed coaching Asante Kotoko too but I won my coach of the year award at Great Olympics. I coached them six times in and out. I also enjoyed coaching Ebusua Dwarfs to bounce back into the Premier League within eight months after they had relegated from the top-flight during the time of the Late Nana Adu but I am excited at coaching Great Olympics. Sometimes there are patchy parts and you have to go by it.

“For Great Olympics they are there whether good or bad. In times of defeat they are at your neck, in times of victory they will come carry you. That’s how they are and you will enjoy the coaching,” he told Ghanasportspage.com.
