Executive Council Member of the Ghana Football Association, Dr. Tony Aubynn says most of the local players lack the exposure to be in Otto Addo’s final 26-man squad.
The chairman of the Black Galaxies management committee insists there is a big gap and a barrier between the home-based players and the foreign-based players.
The call-up to the senior national soccer team have recently been dominated by players who ply their trade abroad and according to Dr. Tony Aubynn, it is because those playing outside have exposed themselves with an outstanding performance because of their training facilities.
They local players have struggled to earn a playing time and always sit back as bench warmers whenever they are invited into the Black Stars.
In an interview with Accra-based Asempa FM, the Ghanaian football administrator said, “The Black Stars is for the whole nation and every Ghanaian can be called by the coach if only you are good. The coach will need about 25 to 26. The technical team have a lot to do. For the Black Galaxies we select the players from here [Ghana] but selection for the national team is very hard because you have to look around the whole world.
“About call-up to the Black Stars I will be happy to see about three Black Galaxies players in the squad but they are not the only players entitled to play. I will support the coach for his selections. We suggests we can expose some of the Black Galaxies players even if they are not going to play. The training only will be good for them but I think they lack the exposure and they need to exposed before.
