Tottenham forward, Son Heung-Min is set to undergo surgery to stabilise a fracture around his left eye, the club have confirmed.
The South Korean international was forced off in the first half of Tottenham’s Champions League clash against Marseille following a challenge with Chancel Mbemba, placing his World Cup availability for South Korea in doubt.
A Spurs statement read: We can confirm Heung-Min Son will undergo surgery to stabilise a fracture around his left eye.
The statement continued to say: Following surgery, Son will commence rehabilitation with our medical staff and we shall update supporters further in due course.
Son is the captain of South Korea and with the injury could very possibly miss out on the 2022 Qatar World Cup with his country.
South Korea’s second group game in Qatar will be against Ghana on November 28. They will face Uruguay first and end with Portugal on December 2.
Ghana, on the other hand, will play Portugal in their first match on November 24 and conclude group stage against Uruguay.
