The minister for Ghana’s Ministry of Youth and Sports, Hon. Mustapha Ussif has confirmed that top four local coaches (Ibrahim Tanko, Samuel Boadu, Ignatius Osei-Fosu and Prosper Narteh Ogum will be part of the Black Stars technical team in Qatar for the World Cup.
The said coaches will provide additional support to Otto Addo and his technical team, and also use the platform to gain experience, confidence and exposure as stated by the sports minister.
Coach Ibrahim Tanko is currently the gaffer of the Black Meteors (Ghana’s U-23 side) who is hoping to seal qualification for the next edition of the U-23 AFCON in Morocco after beating Mozambique in the first round.
Ignatius Osei-Fosu is also the head coach for GPL side Dreams FC. He previously coached Medeama SC and Eleven Wonders before he joined the Dawu-based club.
Meanwhile, Prosper Narteh Ogum and Samuel Boadu are clubless after parting ways with Asante Kotoko and Hearts of Oak.
With sixteen days left for the competition to kick start, the Ghana Football Association and Otto Addo are expected to announce Ghana’s final squad for the tournament in due time.
The Black Stars who are making a return to the Mundial after missing out in 2018 in Russia have been housed in Group H alongside Portugal, South Korea, and Uruguay.
Ghana will open their campaign against Portugal on November 24 at Stadium 974 in Doha.
