Asante Kotoko rose from Thursday’s 2-0 defeat against Bechem United to claim a comeback victory over FC Samartex.
It was huge for the Porcupine Warriors who struggled before coming back into the game.
Prince Antwi silenced the reigning champions with a great strike in the 38th minute to snatch the lead for the visitors.
However, Seydou Zerbo who had time to change his tactics levelled through Nicholas Mensah’s 85th minutes.
It was a big moment for the Porcupine Warriors having dominated as Augustine Agyapong got the job done with 87th minute goal to inspire the reds into victory.
Agyapong’s goal was painful to Annor Walker’s side who were aiming to draw. They ended with ten men after an 87th minute red card to one of their players.
Samartex entered the game without defeat having held four times in their last four games.
The win leaves the Porcupine Warriors at the third position with 10 points while the visitors rank fifteenth with just four points.
Asante Kotoko will play guest to Tarkwa-based Medeama Sporting Club on week six with Samartex playing host to Gold Stars.
