There will be a repeat of last season’s final as UEFA Champions League holders, Real Madrid face Liverpool in the last 16 round while PSG face Bayern Munich.
Real Madrid are Spain’s only representatives in this stage, which is unusual for LaLiga Santander in recent years. Los Blancos progressed as group winners and are the reigning European champions.
Bayern Munich, Benfica, Chelsea, Manchester City, Napoli, Porto, Real Madrid and Tottenham finished as the group winners.
The runners-up were Club Bruges, Borussia Dortmund, Eintracht Frankfurt, Inter, RB Leipzig, Liverpool, AC Milan and Paris Saint-Germain.
Arguably, one of the biggest matches of the round will be a contest between Messi’s PSG and Bayern Munich with Chelsea also facing Dortmund.
The draw was held on Monday, November 7 in Nyon and featured 16 teams that advanced from the group stage.
The round of 16 ties will be played on February 14, 15, 21 and 22, and the return legs on March 7, 8, 14 and 15.
