Cameroon risks missing out of 2022 World Cup over a legal battle

With just twelve days to start the most prestigious tournament on earth, there are concerns in Cameroon over a legal battle that could see the Indomitable Lions missing the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

FECAFOOT – the Cameroon Football Federation – are reportedly having a showdown with kit and equipment supplier Le Coq Sportif.

Le Coq Sportif, the supplier of the team’s uniforms and equipment, and the Cameroon Football Federation (FECAFOOT) are now engaged in a legal dispute.

The Paris Commercial Court took up the case, decided in favor of Le Coq Sportif, and ordered the Cameroonian squad to compete in the World Cup wearing the outfits provided by the kit suppliers.

FIFA concurred with the court’s decision and urged Le Coq Sportif to keep supplying the nation of West Africa with sporting goods.

However, FECAFOOT made the unpopular decision to unilaterally end its contract with the French apparel manufacturer and instead elected to work out a deal with American business One All Sport.

Cameroon are in Group G with Serbia, Switzerland and Brazil. The Indomitable Lions are scheduled to face Switzerland in their first game of the tournament on November 24.
