• Sadio Mané not ruled out of the World Cup despite report from L’Equipe.
In what is the last thing that football lovers and Senegal fans want to see this time, Bayern Munich have finally provided an update on Sadio Mané’s injury.
Mané was forced off the pitch with an injury in the first 20 minutes during the Bundesliga game against Werder Bremen on Tuesday.
There is some very good news surrounding the player per the statement from the club though there is no confirmation that he will be ready for Senegal.
Varying reports over his condition have been doing the rounds since the incident on Tuesday but according to L’Equipe – Mane’s issue would be enough to see him miss out.
However, Bayern’s official report later on Wednesday said that whilst the forward would miss Saturday’s game with Schalke, there would be further tests to see the extent of the injury. They also added that they are in contact with Senegal’s medical staff.
Sadio Mané’s absence will be a big blow to Senegal who will play against Netherlands, Qatar and Ecuador in Group A but the fans of the AFCON holders will be hoping that he recovers quickly and is soon back on the pitch as they have no reliable backup for him.
