The Al Sadd forward spent two weeks in Ghana for personal training with Hearts of Oak’s Physical trainer, Enoch Daitey.
Having led Ghana’s U-20 side to win the FIFA U-20 Championship in 2009, the 32-year-old believes he can lead the Black Stars to cause upset at the biggest stage.
The other travelling squad will be disclosed tomorrow by the head coach Otto Addo at exactly 11:00am.
However, we can confirm that his brother, Jordan Ayew, Thomas Partey, Inaki Williams, Tariq Lamptey, and others have registered their names in Ghana’s final squad.
The tournament will kick off on Sunday, November 20 with the opening game seeing host country Qatar facing Ecuador.
Ghana will come up against Portugal in the group opener on November 24 before taking on South Korea and Uruguay in Group H.
The group stage will run until Friday, December 2 with four games being held each day after the opening two days.
