Head coach for Accra Hearts of Oak, Slavko Matić is optimistic of driving the Phobians to the right direction.
Under normal circumstances, Hearts of Oak winning three games out of four under the Serbian tactician would be considered a good run and the gaffer says this is just the beginning.
Hearts of Oak have enjoyed an incredibly perfect run since the arrival of Matić, unbeaten in their last four Premier League games, picking wins against Gold Stars, Kotoku Royals, Accra Lions and one draw against Karela United. In those games the Phobians have scored a total of six goals while conceding a grand total of two in the opposite direction, representing a good run to their campaign.
Asked about what helped his side to stop highflying Accra Lions with a 3-1 scoreline on Thursday, he said: “Character, beautiful mentality of my players. They worked with the spirit. Congratulations. They gave us glory. It was something I never saw in my life but we deserve it. God is biggest… Hardworking and this is just the beginning. We need time but what we showed especially after the red was very good for us. This is what we want,” he told StarTimes.
Hearts were completely dominant against The Lions and were deserving of the score line despite Awako’s red card and their manager has been incredibly impressed with his side’s performance.
They sit sixth with twelve points after week seven.
They will be desperate to continue their winning form before the World Cup break as they host Dreams FC on Sunday.
