The Communications Director of the Ghana Football Association, Henry Asante Twum has confirmed that there is unity in the Black Stars camp and the team is also buzzing with loads of energy ahead of the game against Portugal.
He further noted that there is no injury concern in the team but the love for each other and the chemistry is very strong.
He opened up while speaking in an interview with the FA’s Communication Member, Sheikh Tophic Sienu.
“What I know is that these warriors are hungry and they are ready. It doesn’t come any good to represent your country at the World Cup. We began from Abu Dhabi where we stayed for four days and played a friendly against Switzerland. We’ve been here for three days. There was no training on Saturday. We began yesterday and we will continue today as well. I like the spirit in the camp.
“The fact that there is unity and you can clearly see among the players that the chemistry is very strong, the love for each other is also very good, the cohesion and understanding look very good. Sometimes you may downplay the effect of some of these things on the positivity of a game but when the team look strong off the pitch it shows on the pitch as well. That is what I am seeing from these players. Luckily, there is no injury concern. We came out of the Switzerland game without injuries. We have been here for the past three days. There is no injury concern. The players are all fit, they are all healthy and they are buzzing with loads of energy, getting ready for the match against Portugal,” he said.
Following a brief absence from the World Cup in 2018, Ghana is now back where they belong and are already dreaming of sweet revenge in Group H, with Uruguayan villain Luis Suarez lying in wait 12 years after channelling his inner goalkeeper to preventing the Black Stars from reaching the semi-finals.
The team will hope to announce their presence with a positive result against Portugal on Thursday followed by the contest against South Korea and Uruguay.
