Head coach for Ghana, Otto Addo has reacted to Cristiano Ronaldo’s penalty against his side in Group H opener at the Stadium 974.
Ronaldo, a free agent after his second stint at Old Trafford ended abruptly on Tuesday, thumped home a dubiously-awarded penalty in the 65th minute after coming together with Mohammed Salisu in the 65th minute.
And the Ghanaian coach was disappointed with the decisions of the referee as Ghana lost 3-2 to Portugal.
“The referee gave a penalty which was not a penalty. Everyone saw that. Why? Because it’s Ronaldo or something?”
“If somebody scores a goal, congratulations. But this was really a gift. A special gift from the referee.”
“The game plan was correct but the referee awarded a penalty which was not one, everyone saw it, we had our chances even at the last minute I can’t be proud because we take 0 points, we have to win our next 2 games,” Otto Addo stated.
Joao Felix and Rafael Leao were on target for the the Portuguese side while captain Andre Ayew and Osman Bukari scored to reduced the deficit for the African giants.
It was a truly memorable World Cup clash between Portugal and Ghana goes the way of Cristiano Ronaldo’s Selecao.
Ghana will on Monday face South Korea while Portugal clash with Uruguay in Matchday 2 of the competition.
