His Excellency President Akuffo-Addo has arrived in Qatar ahead of Ghana’s opening game against Portugal at the ongoing FIFA World cup.
The President is expected to meet, and motivate the technical team and the playing body before the game which is scheduled for 4:00pm.
The Black Stars are in group H alongside Portugal, Uruguay, and South Korea.
The Ghana-Portugal game is one that is highly anticipated, and the hope is that the President’s visit will spell a good omen for the Black Stars as they face Christiano Ronaldo’s Portugal.
Ghana finished bottom of their group in the African Cup of Nations earlier this year, but qualified for the World Cup after a win over rivals Nigeria in qualifying.
Despite being tipped as the lowest-ranked team at the Mundial, Otto Addo and his boys will hope to follow the steps of Saudi Arabia and Japan to stun Portugal.
Ghana will go into the game with the likes of La Liga star, Inaki Williams, Tariq Lamptey of Brighton, Ajax’s attacker Kudus Mohammed, Arsenal midfielder, Thomas Partey and Salisu Mohammed of Southampton.
The game is scheduled for 4:00pm at the Stadium 974 in Doha.
