One position Hearts of Oak is blessed with is the left-back role. The arrival of Raddy Ovouka who spent the last ten months on loan with USA-based club, New Mexico United and the presence of Dennis Korsah will give Coach Slavko Matić a headache concerning who to start based on their performance.
A good work ethic saw Raddy Ovouka shined in his football career in the previous Ghana Premier League seasons than expected and also getting an invitation to his national team. Now he has returned to the club after a short term loan deal in the United States, and will have to compete former Ebusua Dwarfs captain, Dennis Korsah who joined the Rainbows in January as possible replacement for the Congolese defender.
But Korsah has also become a key member to the Rainbows, slotting in right away and starting both matches. His blistering performance saw him earning his maiden Black Stars call up in March during the World Cup play-off against Nigeria. He was even named among Ghana’s 55-man provisional squad for the World Cup.
However, Ovouka in an interview with Ghanaian Times spoke about his return and revealed why he’s going to be a starter for the MTN FA Cup holders over Korsah.
“I don’t compete; my performance speaks for me. I deserve the left-back position in any club I find myself. I respect those there but I’m the fans favourite”
Now, it will be quite difficult for the Serbian tactician to decide on who to start in 2023 should the Congolese defender stay to continue his career in the Ghanaian league.
