Defending champions of the CAF Champions League, Wydad Casablanca have reportedly sacked their manager, Hussein Ammouta for traveling to Qatar to watch the FIFA World Cup without permission, and for not showing up at the club’s training ground.
The Moroccan tactician left the club few days ago to support the Atlas Lion who have progressed to the last 16 of the competition.
The North African giants advanced to the knockout stage of the tournament after beating Belgium and Canada to top group F.
They will face the 2010 champions, Spain on Monday to fight for the quarter-final ticket.
Ammouta was announced as the new Wydad AC head coach, replacing Walid Regragui for the second time after four years.
He led the team to win the Botola League and the CAF Champions League in 2017.
The CAF Champions League winners are yet to release an official statement of Hussein Ammouta’s departure but the news was reported by Africa Facts Zone on Twitter.
