Head Coach of Central African Republic Raoul Savoy Bangui has tipped Morocco to be the only African team to progress and make history in the FIFA World Cup.
Morocco made it into the round of 16 for the first time since 1986 and only for the second time in their history after seeing Canada off with a 2-1 score line in their last Group F match to top a group in Belgium, Croatia and Canada.
According to the Spanish-Swiss football tactician, he foresees the north African giants’ Morocco to make history and the world cup.”I have watched all the African countries play in the world and I tip Morocco to progress to the next phase of the competition and make the continent proud”
They face Spain next Tuesday in their second-ever World Cup meeting to compete for a place in the quarter-finals – in the first, in the 2018 group stages, Morocco twice took the lead before drawing 2-2, with Iago Aspas scoring a last-minute Spain equaliser.
“Morocco’s success is not coming from the sky. It is intentional. They have built the Mohammed VI Complex in Maamoura and their investment is paying off in all their national teams” he told Ghanasportspage.com in an interview on Thursday, 1st December 2022.
“The gaffer for the Morocco national team Walid Regragui and his boys are poised for action as a former Morocco international, he understands the culture of the country and he knows what it takes to win”, he added.
“When you consider the World Cup in its entire history, no foreign coach has won it with a nation since its inception in 1930. Having someone who understands the culture of the country in the cases of the five African nations has made a huge difference”, he concluded.
