Head coach for the Black Galaxies, Annor Walker has disclosed why he handed a call-up to Asante Kotoko defender, Sherrif Mohammed.
The talented center-back was invited on Wednesday to join the team for preparations ahead of the CHAN 2023 tournament in Algeria.
As confirmed by coach Annor Walker, the Porcupine Warriors defender was invited based on his performance against Samartex on week five of the BetPawa Premier League in Kumasi.
“Yes, I have invited Sherrif Mohammed from Kotoko. I called him to come for me to observe his performance before his name was sent to CAF. He came two days ago (Wednesday). He trained and played a test match with us.
“I invited him because I wasn’t impressed with the performance of the central defenders I brought with what I saw in the league matches.
“I saw Sherrif during our game against Kotoko but I thought he was old. I got to know that he is young and not that older that’s why I said let him come for me to see him. I saw a different performance when he came and I brought him to look at him,” Annor Walker told Ghanasportspage.com.
The Black Galaxies are already in camp at the Ghanaman Soccer Center of Excellence in Prampram.
The team is expected to leave Ghana in the coming days to continue preparations for the tournament which starts in January.
Ghana will face Morocco, Madagascar and Sudan in Group C.
