Kumasi Asante Kotoko have progressed to the next stage of the MTN FA Cup with a 4-2 triumph on penalties over Bechem United at the Baba Yara Sports in a round of 64 clash after the Hunters had snatched a 2-2 draw from the jaws of defeat.
Earlier, the hosts had taken the lead when Mukwala fired an emphatic finish into the posts.
The Ugandan striker scored again after four minutes to extend the lead during the 9th minute but the visitors picked up to mount pressure on the Porcupine Warriors.
They did get a consolation in the 18th minute with Isaiah Nyarko’s strike.
However, the second half was much more even and open but it was the Hunters who scored first to restore parity courtesy of Francis Twene during the 70th minute with a powerful free-kick.
With the game level in the closing stages, there were opportunities for both sides to win it but in the end, it was decided from the spot.
Yusif Mubarak, Richard Boadu, Morison and Lamptey all found the net for the hosts, with Kingful and Hafiz Konkoni misses allowing Kotoko to claim their place in the next stage.
