Defending Champions of the Ghana Premier League Asante Kotoko has decided not to extend Christopher Nettey’s stay with the club.
With his contract run out on Wednesday 27th December 2022. The Kumasi-based club has refused to renew the contract.
He joined Kotoko from the talent conveyor belt factory manned by former Black Stars player Godwin Attram’s Attram de Visser Soccer Academy in Accra.
Nettey had the opportunity to stay in Accra where he had played on loan for the Great Olympics but the allure and largess on offer in Kumasi were too strong to turn it down.
He has been instrumental since joining Kotoko and contributed to the team winning the Ghana Premier League last season.
According to close sources, Asante Kotoko presented a contract extension document to the player for review and upon the player’s deliberation with his management, they turned down the offer to extend his stay in Kumasi
As it stands, the player takes home ¢2,000 as a salary with the current offer chalked at ¢4,000 with the player pushing his salary to an increment of ¢7,000 a figure the club is reluctant to accept.
Asante Kotoko after reviewing the offer from the player decided not to continue working with the player and parted ways with him.
