Stephen Amankona is reportedly set to now terminate his contract with Asante Kotoko and become a free agent after two years.
The former Berekum Chelsea captain has struggled to have enough playing time since joining the Porcupine Warriors and has contacted the management of the club to terminate his contract, Ghanasportspage.com can exclusively confirm.
The management of Amankona has written to Asante Kotoko SC to request a contract termination.
Amankona has made five appearances for the GPL holders this season. His last appearance was against Legon Cities during week 7 of the Betpawa Premier League.
He was on target when the Porcupine Warriors defeated Nsoatreman FC 2-1 in their outstanding league fixture.
He will become a free agent in the coming days, leaving other clubs free to approach him.
The former Berekum Chelsea starman joined the GPL giants after enjoying a remarkable 2020-21 campaign with the Bibires.
Amankona was sensational and undoubtedly one of the best players in the league having scored 15 goals in all competitions in the 2020-21 season coupled with 7 assists, alongside three man-of-the-match awards in the GPL.
