Oda Kotoku Royals returned to winning ways with a 2-1 success over Berekum Chelsea on Friday at the Cape Coast Stadium, ending their nine straight winless run in the ongoing BetPawa Premier League.
The Royals loss against RTU on week 10 made this a key game for them but they were made to work hard to come from behind for their three points.
The visitors broke Kotoku Royals defence and took the lead through Kalo Ouatarra’s tenth minute strike.
But 21 minutes later, Edward Mensah and Richard Dzikoe scored to take the lead for the hosts.
Kotoku Royals looked sharper of the two teams after the equalizer – and indeed enjoyed the rare status of having more possession at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium.
Dzikoe, who scored his first Premier League goal against RTU shined in today’s game. He showed some encouraging signs and won the Most Valuable Player.
Despite the win, the newly-promoted side remain in eighteenth place with 7 points from 11 games.
Tamale City also sit seventeenth with 10 points. Both teams may need three straight wins to get out from the relegation zone.
Next stop for Kotoku Royals, they will be going to Dormaa to face league leaders, Aduana Stars and Berekum Chelsea will be hosting Karela United at the Golden City Park.
