Rashid Nortey has sent a farewell message to Medeama SC and club’s fans after confirming his departure.
The highly-rated midfield is leaving the Mauve and Yellow side after six years following the expiration of his contract.
He made over 60 appearances for the Tarkwa-based club, opting against renewing his contract, having joined them in 2017.
“For 6 years I’ve served Medeama football club, I have given my all, I did my very best for the club and sincerely want to say a big thank you for the opportunity given, I appreciate the love and support from both the management and the fans. I wish Medeama the best of luck this season and the seasons to come. It’s a goodbye,” the talented midfielder wrote on his Facebook page.
Despite not lifting the GPL title, Nortey was one of the best midfielders in the club.
His scintillating performance earned him a call up to the Ghana A’ national football team ahead of friendly match against Uzbekistan national team last year.
He made his debut for the Black Stars team on 8 June 2021 in a friendly against Morocco under Coach CK Akonnor. He introduced as replacement for Emmanuel Lomotey in the added time of Ghana’s 0–1 away loss.
