Ghana risk coming home early after losing 1-0 to Madagascar in the first group game against Madagascar at the 2022 Africa Nations Championship (CHAN) in Algeria.
In a game that produced three goals, Madagascar led 1-0 at the end of the first half after proving to be the better side.
Despite Ghana going into the game as the favourites, debutants Madagascar proved to be the better side with a solid performance right from the start of the first half.
Just 12 minutes into the first half, the underdogs scored through an effort from Solomampionona Koloina to stun Ghanaians.
After recess, the trailing Black Galaxies put up a good fight in a bid to stage a comeback. In the 62nd minute,Tokinantenaina Olivier of Madagascar doubled the lead for his side after Augustine Randolf misplaced a pass to his keeper and landed in front of him,beating the goalkeeper to grab the second goal for Madagascar.
Asante Kotoko’s right back Augustine Agyapong grabbed the consolation for his side with a beautiful curler to make it 2-1 but it could not inspire the Black Galaxies to come from behind to earn anything out of the clash.
Although Ghana had the chance to register goals, Madagascar defended so well to cruise to a 2-1 win at the end of the exercise.
The team’s focus now is to qualify from Group C which is made up of Madagascar, Sudan and Morocco after losing the opener to Madagascar.on a good note tomorrow
After the defeat today, Ghana must now prepare for the second Group C match against Sudan on January 19.
