Ghanasportspage.com can exclusively confirm that Accra Great Olympics have joined the race to rival Asante Kotoko for the signature of former Medeama SC midfielder, Rashid Nortey.
Nortey’s six years contract with the Mauve and Yellow side expired on January 12, opting against extending his stay in Tarkwa.
However, Kotoko are increasingly seen as favourites to sign the 27-year-old midfielder, having made him one of their ‘new targets’ but a new challenger, Great Olympics are set to rival the Porcupine Warriors for the player’s signature.
The Dade Boys are not living in a dreamland this season. They are winless in their last five league games, leaving them in sixteenth-place on the table.
Hence, making new signings to get back to were they belong to will be a priority for the Accra giants and their top target now is Nortey.
Several clubs are lurking around for the midfielder who has already set the tone on the pitch with his unique gameplay. A certain Rashid Nortey had caught the eye of every football lover in Ghana and it didn’t take him very long to make his national team debut.
Nortey appeared as star in midfielder during his six-year stay with the Tarkwa-based side.
After joining Medeama SC in 2017, he quickly became one of the most impressive midfielders in Ghana leading him to his maiden Black Stars call-up in 2021 under former Coach CK Akonnor.
