The head coach of Hearts of Oak, Slavko Matic has reacted to his team’s draw to Samartex in the Ghana Premier League.
The Serbian tactician took charge of his first match since departing to his home town on medical grounds and returned to the touchline for the Phobians on Sunday afternoon when the Phobians were held to a goalless draw 2-1 by Samartex.
Speaking in his post-match interview, Coach Slavko Matic lamented over the draw, adding that his team gave everything in a bid to avoid drawing.
“Nobody likes to draw in a game where you manage to have numerous chances today. When you can’t run as a player, it affects the transition of the play and tactically, this is not what my players and fans expect. We had good transitions but we made tactical mistakes” he said
“When it’s an open ball and you don’t have good defensive transitions, you must go big. A big team like Hearts Of Oak can make sloppy results in a game we commanded throughout. I’m worried about my attacks not finding the back of the net but we will have a better rhythm soon.
” Linda is a fine player and those who see him know he’s a fine player and a core in our new revolution. We create the future and not only Hearts Of Oak and Ghana Football. His last game was 8 months ago and truly, he will come good going forward.
“And I’m very happy because our young players adapted very well to my work…we have 14 players from 18 to 22 years,” he said.
“We have played 4th matches in a space of 2 weeks with 15 players was very difficult. The players were very tired, more especially the young ones in the team because they didn’t have that rhythm. Baafi, Rashid, and Gideon were all tired, not only physically but also mentally”- he added
