Ghanaian forward, Felix Afena Gyan registered his second goal for Cremonese against Napoli in a Coppa Italia round of 16 match, helping his side to win 5-4 on penalties.
Napoli who had the upper hand did not lower their arms but failed to get the goal that would give them the victory, despite having come from behind with Juan Jesus and Giovanni Simeone cancelling out Charles Pickel’s goal.
The game went to penalties after Felix Afena-Gyan had scored an 87th minute goal to level. Cremonese’s Leonardo Sernicola was sent off for a second booking in extra time, but Napoli could not take advantage of it.
Napoli’s Stanislav Lobotka was the only player to miss a penalty. Afena Gyan went on to score the winning kick as Cremonese, who have yet to win in Serie A this season and are bottom of the table, went through to the next round.
Felix has scored only two goals for Cremonese since joining them in August 2022 from AS Roma for €6m. All goals were scored in the Coppa Italia Round of 32 and 16.
Cremonese will go on to face AS Roma in the quarter-final.
