Former Kumasi Asante Kotoko player and current Kenpong Academy coach Frimpong Manso have added his voice to the low attendance at the various league centers.
In recent times, spectatoring at various match venues has generated a lot of debate with most people suggesting all manner of reasons.
Some have blamed the promotion of the various foreign leagues with our Sports journalist culpable for spending precious airtime talking about the foreign league instead of the local game and training the taste buds of their listeners.
Others have blamed the innovative e-ticketing as those living in the stone age are of the opinion that spectators must still queue to buy tickets like it was done years ago.
“Our league is not gaining the massive attendance like how we used to witness some years back. The English Premier League(EPL) time fixing crashes with that of the Ghana Premier league(GPL). Most of their matches start at 3pm and our league matches come at the same time”
“The Ghana Premier league is not accessible to most of the football fans and lovers of the game. People who love the EPL have easy access to the league and enjoy it to the fullest. The quality of our game is now low and does not attract the very best of officiating and it’s killing our game and stadium attendance lately.
In the last few weeks traditional clubs like Hearts and Kotoko have struggled to fill their stadiums as there is an apparent attendance fatigue from football fans.
