Defending champions, Accra Hearts of Oak will be looking to progress to the next stage of the MTN FA Cup when they host Dreams FC on Sunday at the nation’s Wembley, Accra Sports Stadium.
Goals from Salifu Ibrahim, Benjamin Yorke and Kwadwo Obeng Junior secured Coach Slavko Matic’s men a qualification to the round of 32 over Uncle T United in December last year.
Ahead of the tie against the Still Believe side, it has been confirmed that the Rainbows will enter the game without Isaac Mensah, Gideon Asante and Caleb Amankwaa. The trio are on the team’s injury list and will not be available for selection.
Meanwhile, Zakaria Yakubu who missed their Premier League matchday 13 clash against Samartex has returned to the squad.
With 17 players available, the Serbian tactician would be happy to see the Rainbows win on Sunday and advance as they seek to defend the title for the third time.
The record holders came from behind to beat the Dawu-based club 3-2 in the semi-final during the 2021/22 campaign in Accra before beating Bechem United to win the title in Kumasi.
Sunday’s tie pits two of the best teams in the season against each other – this time at the Round of 32 of the MTN FA Cup. The Phobians have tasted one defeat, drawn two and won in their last four outings in the League going into the match against a Dreams FC side that have climbed up the League table following three wins and two draws in their last five outings.
