Defending champions of the MTN FA Cup, Accra Hearts of Oak have been eliminated from the competition in the round of 32 stage by Dreams FC – thanks to Agyenim Boateng’s first half goal.
Agyenim Boateng capitalized on the Phobians’ right-back, Zakaria Yakubu’s mistake and scored the only goal of the game which proved decisive for Hearts of Oak losing their hold on the cup at the Accra Sports Stadium.
Hearts were hoping to avoid falling in the hands of Dreams FC side, but their level of performance in the first ten minutes was poor.
Coach Slavko Matic’s side however, intensified their performanc in the second half in search of a goal.
But they couldn’t find a way to unlock the door, having missed a penalty in the remaining time and will now face a season where their only realistic chance of a trophy is the Premier League.
Dreams FC were eliminated from the competition following a 3-2 defeat to the same opponent in the semi-final stage last season but they entered today’s game with high spirit to overturn the table and they are through to the last 16 of the competition.
